What is meant by the term, “simulator hardware"?

Simulator hardware refers to the chassis, racing seat, steering wheel, shifter, pedals and also the computer and display monitor for the software imaging. The components of the hardware that the driver touches are required to be as realistic in touch, feel and operation as is possible. That is a key element in the deception necessary to get the driver subconscious mind to believe the simulator is a real race car.
